Geotextiles

Geotextile is the cheapest material in a project and is usually the first to be cut back in the tender. It is also the material which, if chosen incorrectly, will block the drainage within three years and necessitate excavation. The choice is not based on ‘how much the roll costs’ but on two parameters: the characteristic pore opening O₉₀, which determines whether it will retain fine particles without becoming blocked, and the CBR static puncture resistance, which determines whether it will withstand the compaction of the aggregates laid on top of it.
