Waterproofing

Waterproofing is a ‘yes or no’ proposition: there is no such thing as a partially waterproof flat roof. And the material almost never fails. It is the detail that fails: the joint, the primer that didn’t match the substrate, the membrane cut to 5 centimetres instead of 10. That is why the choice starts with the substrate and the location, not with the roll: bituminous membrane where a blowtorch is permitted, self-adhesive or liquid-applied membrane where it is not, synthetic on large or exposed flat roofs, and cementitious mortar where water is pressing from the negative side. Primer, membrane and accessories must function as a single system. Trade supply with technical support: bituminous, synthetic and liquid-applied membranes, cementitious mortars and joint sealants, with a declaration of performance and CE marking, primer–membrane compatibility testing, quantity calculations and nationwide delivery to the construction site.
