Sound insulation

Modern lifestyles and working practices create high expectations, and for this reason, the science of sound, combined with modern materials technology, is more essential than ever for implementing appropriate acoustic solutions. But how do we define sound insulation? It involves controlling the transmission of sound originating from an external source. Airborne and impact sounds – such as, for example, cars or the sound of heels on a wooden floor, at high, medium and low frequencies, can be occasional or constant sources of disturbance. Sound can be transmitted through any structural element, such as flooring and masonry, in various ways. Furthermore, it should be emphasised that there are sounds of different frequencies, which often make the selection of suitable sound-insulating material a complex task.
