Stone wool insulation
FIBRANgeo stone wool is produced from mineral rock which is first melted in an electric furnace at 1520°C and then spun into fibres. Production in an electric furnace allows for more precise control of the conditions of the rock mixture during melting, compared with the blast furnace method still used by most manufacturers today. Maintaining stable temperatures ensures the dimensional uniformity of the stone wool fibres and guarantees excellent technical characteristics in the final product. Furthermore, the avoidance of fossil fuels (e.g. coke) as the primary fuel minimises the emission of gaseous pollutants into the environment. Following the fibre-forming stage, the stone wool fibres, through the addition of a binding resin, oil and special silicate compounds for water repellency, acquire cohesion, elasticity and water-repellency. FIBRANgeo stone wool is formed into slabs, rolls and loose-fill material, in a variety of dimensions, and is then packaged. The slabs and rolls can also be produced with various coatings.
