Ceiling tiles and suspended ceilings

Description

Saint-Gobain’s Ecophon Opta A is a high-density glass wool ceiling tile, designed for suspended ceilings that need to meet basic acoustic requirements in a reliable, documented manner. Unlike mineral fibre panels, the glass wool core offers excellent sound absorption across a wide frequency range and a significantly lower weight per m². It achieves Class A sound absorption (αw 0.95 at 200 mm o.d.s), with a White 190 surface that is highly light-reflective (~85%) and enhances the natural brightness of the space. The untreated Board edges are fitted to a visible 24/15 mm framework, allowing for easy installation, removal and full access to the installations above the ceiling.

The ARGYNET View: Acoustic performance depends directly on the overall system gap (o.d.s): at 200 mm it achieves Class A (αw 0.95), whilst at 50 mm it drops to Class D (αw 0.55). In ceiling design, the suspension height is not merely an installation detail — it is the variable that determines the acoustic class you will deliver to the client.

Overview

Key Features

- Class A sound absorption — αw 0.95 (200 mm o.d.s)

- High-density glass wool core — broadband absorption, low weight

- Reaction to fire: A2-s1, d0 (EN 13501-1)

- Moisture resistance: RH up to 95 per cent at 30°C (EN 13964) — dimensional stability

- White 190 — high light reflectance, reduced lighting costs

- Exposed 24/15 mm grid — fully accessible ceiling

- Untreated board edges — easy installation and removal of panels

- Lightweight — reduced suspension load compared to mineral fibre boards
