Liquid-applied membranes

Description

EshaDesmolast TR is a single-component, crystalline, transparent, solvent-based, liquid-applied waterproofing membrane containing aliphatic polyurethane resins. Its aliphatic chemistry is the reason it does not yellow: after 2,000 hours of artificial ageing in cycles of 4 hours of UV exposure at 60°C and 4 hours of humidity at 50°C (ASTM G 53), it shows no colour change and retains its mechanical properties and elasticity unchanged.

It has a tensile strength of 10.5 N/mm², an elongation at break of 160 per cent and a Shore A hardness of 75. It forms a surface film in 90 minutes at 23°C and cures fully in 12 to 24 hours. It operates from -40°C to +80°C.

The ARGYNET View:

The most common misconception regarding this range is that TR is ‘the same, but transparent’. It is not.

The base ESHADESMOLAST has an elongation of 700 per cent and a tensile strength of 4 N/mm² — it is an elastic membrane that follows the movements of the substrate and bridges micro-cracks. TR has 160 per cent and 10.5 N/mm² — it is a hard, durable, transparent sealant with almost three times the mechanical strength but four times less deformability.

The practical implication: TR cannot be applied over a substrate that is cracking. It is applied to a sound, stable surface — balcony tiles, marble, decking — that you wish to waterproof without compromising its appearance. If the substrate is moving, the correct solution is the base coat ESHADESMOLAST with a top coat of ESHADESMOTOP.
