ISOPLAST FC/TR | Transparent 2-component polyurea membrane

Liquid-applied membranes

Description

ISOPLAST FC/TR is a multi-component, transparent, solvent-based, liquid-applied aliphatic polyurea waterproofing membrane with a high solids content (~87% by weight). Mixing ratio 50:50. A SINMAST product, distributed by SINTECNO Hellas.

It is designed for waterproofing and protecting flat roofs and balconies that have already been tiled — it waterproofs without the need for removal and without altering the appearance. Its aliphatic chemistry provides resistance to UV radiation, meaning it does not yellow or develop surface chalking.

Its hardness reaches Shore D 50 — the highest in the ISOPLAST range — with zero water absorption after curing and retention of mechanical properties from -40°C to +90°C. Walkable in approximately 4 hours, fully cured in 24.

The ARGYNET View:

FC/TR is not simply ‘the transparent FC/A’. It comprises three different products in a single container, each with a completely different application rate:

As a waterproofing membrane — 0.5–0.6 kg/m² for a 500 μm film, i.e. 0.25–0.30 per coat

As a protective varnish — 0.150–0.200 kg/m² per coat

As a binder for resin mortar — 1 kg of material to 1 to 6 kg of quartz sand

The difference between the first and second applications is a threefold increase in quantity. Before submitting a quotation, the question is not ‘how many square metres’ but ‘exactly what the material will do’.

And here’s a pitfall: the ratio here is 50:50, whereas in the related FC/A product it is 70:30. A contractor crew that works with both and overlooks this will ruin the mixture.

Overview

Key Features

Appearance & UV resistance:

- Transparent — fully preserves the appearance of tiles and natural stone

- Aliphatic polyurea: does not yellow under UV exposure

- No surface chalking

Mechanical properties & waterproofing:

- Hardness 80 Shore A / 50 Shore D (ASTM D 2240)

- Adhesion to concrete ≥2 N/mm² (ASTM D 903)

- Increased resistance to abrasion and wear

- Zero water absorption after curing

- Solid content by weight ~87%

Durability:

- Properties remain unchanged from -40°C to +90°C

- Resistance to water, heat and frost

- Chemical resistance: slightly acidic and alkaline solutions (<10%), xylene, benzene, alcohol, light mineral oils, seawater

Restrictions:

- Pot life of just ~30 minutes — the shortest in its class

- Substrate age ≥28 days, moisture content ≤4%, relative humidity ≤80%

- Application temperature +5°C to +35°C

- Contains isocyanates and xylene — flammable
