ESHAFIN SBS -10 | Elastomeric bituminous membrane

• Thorough cleaning of the surface to which the waterproofing is to be applied, removing loose particles, dust and greasy substances.

• Surface roughness for waterproofing: at least 1.5 per cent.

• Recommended relative humidity of the substrate ≤ 6 per cent.

• Coat the surface with the eco-friendly (zero VOC emissions) elastomeric, waterproofing, new-technology bituminous primer ESHATOPRIMER at a consumption rate of approximately 0.3 litres/m².

• Alternatively, ESHALAC 50-S may be used as an asphalt primer at a consumption rate of approximately 0.3 kg/m².

• Once the bituminous primer has dried, the surface is ready for the application of the waterproofing membranes. Application of the bituminous membrane

• Work on laying the membrane begins at the lowest point of the slopes, in order to ensure the unimpeded flow of water when the membranes are joined side by side. • The membrane roll is then unrolled, aligned in the position where it is to be applied, and re-rolled for application by the installer.

• The membrane is welded to the substrate using a suitable torch.

• The overlap between sheets should be at least 8 cm along the length of the roll, and at least 12 cm at the ends. The overlaps of the membranes are torched and pressed lightly during welding until the molten bituminous material appears at the joint, which indicates that the membranes have been welded together watertight

• It is recommended to use a small metal roller designed for welding bituminous membranes to ensure the optimum pressure is applied to the membrane joints.

• Where two (or more) waterproofing layers are to be applied, the second layer is laid in the same direction as the first, but with a parallel offset of approximately 50 cm, so that the overlaps of the sheets in the first layer are positioned in the centre of the sheets in the second layer.

• In the case of loose-laid waterproofing (without bonding to the substrate), a protective layer of sufficient weight must be provided to eliminate the risk of the waterproofing membrane being blown away due to high wind speeds
