ESHAPERFO | Perforated bituminous membrane for a vapour pressure release layer
Specialised bituminous membranesDescription
ESHAPERFO is a perforated modified bituminous membrane, with a total weight of 1.1 kg/m², featuring a perforated glass fibre reinforcement and polyethylene linings on both the top and bottom (P-P).
Unlike any other bituminous membrane, ESHAPERFO is not bonded to the substrate — it is simply laid out. The holes in the membrane allow the overlying waterproofing layer to bond with the substrate only at the surface of the holes, creating a controlled point-bonding effect. The remaining void acts as a continuous ventilation network: water vapour trapped in the substrate moves freely beneath the membrane and is channelled to the flat roof vents.
The result is the elimination of the primary failure mechanism in flat roofs: the trapping of air and water vapour which, under solar radiation, expand and cause blistering, delamination and, ultimately, rupture of the waterproofing layer.
CE certified No. 1020-CPR-010021423, in accordance with EN 13707 (roofs) and EN 13969 (underground structures).
The ARGYNET View
Bubbling on a flat roof is never a failure of the membrane — it is a failure of the system. When the substrate contains residual moisture (new, uncured concrete; refurbishment over old waterproofing; corner moisture in industrial slabs), the fully bonded membrane traps the vapour and the sun does the rest.
ESHAPERFO is the most cost-effective safeguard a project can purchase: a 20 m² roll costs next to nothing compared to the cost of reworking a 500 m² flat roof. The crucial selling point, however, is that it does not work on its own — without vents, the vapour circulates but has nowhere to escape.
