APP plastomeric bituminous membranes

Description

ESHAPROOF is a polymer-modified bituminous membrane based on atactic polypropylene (APP), designed to provide reliable waterproofing and long-term protection in hot climatic conditions. With a softening point of ≥145°C and resistance to temperatures up to 120°C, it withstands intense sunlight without the bituminous mixture flowing, whilst maintaining its flexibility at -7°C. It is available in four reinforcement types with tensile strength ranging from 300 to 900 N/50 mm and in three coating families, with CE certification covering flat roofs, basements and bridge decks (EN 14695).

The ARGYNET View: Within ESHA’s APP trio, it is the balanced mid-range option — more cold-resistant than ESHADURO (-5°C) and more economical than ESHAGUM (-10°C). For typical Greek flat roofs exposed to intense sunlight but without extreme cold, it meets the requirement without incurring excessive costs.

Overview

Key Features

Resistance to weather and thermal conditions

- Very good resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation

- Increased resistance to ageing over time

- Softening point ≥145°C (EN 1427)

- Excellent resistance to high temperatures up to 120°C (EN 1110)

- Flexibility at low temperatures down to -7°C (EN 1109)

- Wide range of application and operating temperatures

- Good performance in corrosive environments: acids, inorganic salts, gases, pollution, ozone

Mechanical properties

- Tensile strength from 300/200 to 900/650 N/50 mm depending on the reinforcement (EN 12311-1)

- Elongation at break up to 45/55 per cent (Spun Bond SP)

- Tear strength up to 340/440 N (ASTM D4073-94)

- Resistance to static puncture up to class L3 (15–25 kg) (EN 12730)

- Resistance to dynamic puncture, class I3 (EN 12691)

- Dimensional stability from -0.1/+0.1% to -0.4/+0.3% (EN 1107-1)

Reinforcements — 4 options with different functions

- High-quality glass fibre mat — dimensional stability, the most cost-effective solution

- Non-woven polyester — balance of strength and cost for standard flat roofs

- Polyester fabric with embedded glass fibres — maximum stability during heat-sealing, prevents ‘banana-bending’

- Spunbond polyester (SP) — increased resistance to mechanical stress, cracking, puncture, shear and tensile forces

Coatings — 3 applications

- Mineral granules (green, white, brown-red) — protection of the waterproofing layer from solar radiation

- Thin polyethylene film — when the membrane is covered by tiles, concrete or gravel

- Woven polypropylene fabric — coated with acrylic waterproofing compounds (ESHACRYCOAT) or aluminium-asphalt (ESHALUMIN)

- Underlay: PE film or quartz sand
