GUARDEX® 12.5mm glass-mat board

Structural boards for dry construction

Description

Non-combustible glass-mat board (class A1) with a special gypsum core and glass fibre reinforcement on both sides — the base board for external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) and ventilated façades.

Knauf GUARDEX is used as a base board in external façade applications. Thanks to its specially treated gypsum core and glass fibre reinforcement on both sides, it is non-combustible, lightweight, resistant to water, mould, moisture and weather conditions, whilst also being breathable — it allows water vapour to diffuse, a crucial feature for the proper functioning of a façade system.

What does ‘GM-FH1R’ mean and why A1:

Unlike standard plasterboards (EN 520 standard, paper-faced), GUARDEX is classified under EN 15283-1+A1 as type GM-FH1R: GM = plasterboard with glass fibre reinforcement (mat), F = fire-resistant core, H1 = superior water absorption class (≤2.5%), R = increased mechanical strength. As it contains no paper, it achieves the highest fire resistance class, A1 (non-combustible).

Overview

Key Features

Class A1 non-combustible material (the highest classification).

- Resistance to moisture and water — Class H1.

- Resistance to mould and weathering.

- Breathable — allows water vapour to diffuse (crucial for external surfaces).

- Glass fibre reinforcement on both sides + special gypsum core.

- Lightweight and easy to work with.

- Low energy and carbon footprint (EPD available).
