Structural boards for dry construction

Description

Moisture- and fire-resistant plasterboard from the Knauf Piano range (GKFI): combines reduced water absorption, fire resistance and sound insulation, for interior spaces with moderate humidity such as domestic bathrooms and kitchens.

Knauf DFH2 features a glass-fibre-reinforced core and a special impregnation that limits water absorption. It is used as a coating in dry construction systems for interior structures with simultaneous requirements for moisture resistance, fire protection and sound insulation. It is the right choice for spaces with an average daily relative humidity of ≤ 70 per cent — that is, domestic bathrooms and kitchens — but not for permanently damp or commercially damp areas.

What does ‘DFH2’ mean:

According to EN 520: D = high density (mass → sound insulation), F = core with improved fire resistance (glass fibres), H2 = reduced water absorption, class 2 (≤5%). The German designation GKFI stands for ‘fire-rated + impregnated’.

Practical guide to selection based on moisture content: H1 (e.g. Knauf Diamant, ≤2.5%) for high moisture levels → H2 (≤5%) for moderate moisture levels → for permanently damp areas, AQUAPANEL (inorganic, 100% water-based).

Overview

Key Features

- Reduced water absorption (class H2, ≤5 per cent) — for moderate humidity.

- Non-combustible material — A2-s1,d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1.

- Structural integrity in fire — glass fibre-reinforced core.

- Sound insulation — high-density gypsum core (Piano range).

- Capable of wet bending for curved elements.

- Dimensional stability — minimal shrinkage and expansion.

- Easy to work with using standard tools for dry construction.
