KNAUF FIREBOARD 12.5mm | Class A1 fireboard

Structural boards for dry construction

Description

Knauf’s leading passive fire protection solution: a specialised fireboard with reaction to fire class A1 — completely non-combustible — for systems with the most stringent fire resistance requirements.

Knauf Fireboard differs significantly from standard fire-rated plasterboards. Its core is reinforced and coated with glass fibre rather than paper, meaning it contains no combustible elements. It is used in dry construction systems for the most demanding passive fire protection applications, where the aim is to achieve the highest possible fire resistance.

Why A1 and not A2:

Standard plasterboards are classified as A2-s1,d0 due to their paper facing. Fireboard achieves the highest A1 classification precisely because it replaces the paper with glass fibre and incorporates vermiculite into the core — there are no organic or combustible components. In design terms, this means it makes the maximum contribution to fire-rated systems.

Overview

Key Features

- Class A1 non-combustible material (EN 13501-1) — the highest classification.

- Glass fibre facing (not paper) & vermiculite core.

- Optimal structural integrity under fire — retains its integrity.

- Lightweight (~10.9 kg/m²) for ease of handling.

- Certified for marine applications (ship equipment).

- Can be curved & exhibits minimal thermal expansion and contraction.
