MacMat R | Geomat with reinforcement
GeogridsDescription
BBA certification and a design life of 120 years — a composite material in which the three-dimensional matrix of the geomat is encased in a reinforcement mesh, double-twisted steel or synthetic geogrid.
It combines the anti-corrosion properties of the geomat with the strength, shear resistance and stiffness of the reinforcement. The mechanical properties of the steel mesh exceed those recommended by EN 10223-3, with a 5% Zn-Al coating or additional polymeric protection.
The ARGYNET View
The crucial question is not ‘how much erosion occurs on the slope’ but ‘what will hold the mat itself in place’. On a steep slope or in a channel subject to hydraulic stress, a simple mat is washed away along with the soil it is supposed to protect.
And there is a second role which, on its own, justifies the choice: in soil nailing solutions, the reinforced geotextile distributes the loads amongst the anchor heads — it is no longer merely a corrosion-resistant element, but a surface component of the stabilisation system.
Practical benefit: the 120-year design life allows for less frequent anchoring, meaning fewer drill holes and fewer man-hours.
