KNAUF SILENTBOARD DFR 12.5mm | High-Performance Sound-Insulating Plasterboard
Structural boards for dry constructionDescription
Knauf’s leading sound-insulating plasterboard: a special high-density gypsum core (DFR type) for maximum sound insulation — delivering outstanding performance where it matters most and is most challenging: at low frequencies.
Knauf Silentboard sound-insulating and fire-rated plasterboards are used as facing layers in dry construction systems for interior structures with the highest requirements for noise protection andlong-term fire resistance. The special high-density core offers significantly greater sound reduction than standard plasterboard, at the same thickness of 12.5 mm.
Why Silentboard & where it fits into the range:
Acoustics has two distinct requirements — ARGYNET helps you keep them straight:
- Sound absorption (reducing reverberation within a space) → Cleaneo Akustik (perforated).
- Sound insulation (preventing sound transmission between rooms) → Piano DF (good) → Silentboard (top-of-the-range).
Silentboard’s key strength is its performance at low frequencies (bass, machinery, speech) — the most challenging aspect of sound insulation, where the special high-mass core clearly excels.
Overview
Key Features
- Special high-density core (~17.9 kg/m²) for maximum sound insulation.
- High performance at low frequencies — the key differentiator.
- Fire-rated (DFR) — non-combustible material, good structural integrity in fire.
- Increased mechanical strength (type R).
- Slim 12.5 mm profile — high performance without thick walls.
- Easy to work with; minimal expansion and contraction; EPD.
