Ceiling tiles and suspended ceilings

Description

OWA Constellation (German: ‘Sternbild’, meaning ‘constellation’) is the most popular ceiling design from the German company OWA — a colour-coated mineral tile with a distinctive pattern of fine to medium micro-perforations reminiscent of a starry sky. It belongs to the OWAcoustic premium range and is manufactured in Germany using a plant-based organic binder; it is 100 per cent recyclable via the OWA green circle system. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it offers documented sound absorption (αw up to 0.80, Class B), reaction to fire class A2-s1,d0 and — in specific suspension systems — exceptionally high fire resistance up to REI 180. The wide variety of edge types (Kante 3/6/15/1b) makes it compatible with exposed, semi-concealed, bandraster and clear-spanning systems, catering for everything from standard offices to demanding projects with fire safety requirements. It comes with a 10-year guarantee against visible deflection.

The ARGYNET View: Constellation is not simply ‘a white panel’ — it is a design statement with technical substance. Depending on the suspension system (S3, S15 cliq, S18d, etc.) and the dimensions, the same product can offer anything from no fire resistance at all to REI 180. In the design process, it is the combination of panel and system that determines the performance — and that is where we add value as technical consultants.
