Tarkett timber transition profiles | Reducers, thresholds and finishes in solid oak

A wooden floor moves: it expands and contracts in response to the humidity in the room. That is why every door, every change in material and every fixed obstacle requires a joint that is properly covered. Tarkett’s transition profiles are made of solid oak, the same material as the parquet, and are fixed without visible screws. The reducer ‘lowers’ the parquet to a lower floor surface, such as tiles, vinyl or carpet. The square profile finishes the floor at a fixed level, such as a tile of the same height, a window sill or a door frame. The threshold profile separates large areas or joins two floors of the same height beneath a door. All of them leave the expansion joint free underneath, so that the floor can move without ‘lifting’.

At ARGYNET, we recommend them with every Tarkett parquet and laminate, selecting the range based on the floor’s thickness. The 8–12 mm range is suitable for laminates (Woodstock, Easy Line) and thin flooring. The 13–17 mm range is suitable for pre-polished parquet flooring of 13–15 mm (Shade, Grace, Pure, Heritage, Noble, Prestige). Varnished profiles match lacquered floors. Unpainted profiles can be treated on-site with oil or varnish to match oiled floors exactly or to achieve specific shades. Before cutting, the profiles are left in the room for at least 48 hours to acclimatise.
