Cementitious waterproofing mortars

Description

VANDEX SUPER is not a coating. It is a cementitious material that waterproofs concrete in depth: its active chemicals react with the free lime and moisture in the pores to form insoluble crystals, which seal the capillaries and shrinkage micro-cracks. The result is not on the surface of the concrete — it is inside it.

This gives it a capability that no membrane possesses: it works even under negative hydrostatic pressure, that is, when water is pushing from the soil side towards the structure. It is used in waterproof basement envelopes, raft slabs, retaining walls, construction joints, tunnels, sewage treatment plants and drinking water reservoirs — it has been tested and approved for this use.

It waterproofs without trapping moisture: the concrete continues to breathe. And it remains permanently active — if a new micro-crack appears and water penetrates, new crystals form to seal it. Below you will find the full technical specifications, consumption rates per structural element and the application conditions that determine whether the system will work.

It is the only material in the catalogue that requires a damp substrate — every liquid-applied membrane requires a dry one. The reason is that this is not a coating: it becomes part of the concrete. It does not get punctured by backfill, does not peel away, and remains permanently active — new water in a new crack forms new crystals.

The trade-off: it requires a sound, open-pored system. It does not rectify poor-quality concrete.

Overview

Key Features

- Deep waterproofing by crystallisation — not a surface coating

- Effective under both positive AND negative hydrostatic pressure

- Permanently active: new water entering a new micro-crack forms new crystals

- The concrete remains vapour-permeable — no moisture is trapped

- Compressive strength of 39 MPa and bond strength of 1.4 MPa at 28 days

- Protection against seawater, sewage and aggressive groundwater

- Non-combustible — Class A1 according to EN 13501-1

- Application by brush, spray or dry brushing with a helicopter

- CE marking in accordance with EN 1504-3, with BBA and NSF certifications
