Structural boards for dry construction

Description

High-density DF plasterboard (GKF), designed as a facing for dry construction systems in interior structures where both sound insulation and fire protection are required.

Knauf Piano DF belongs to the category of controlled (high) density plasterboards with a glass fibre-reinforced core. This combination — greater surface mass and improved structural integrity in the event of fire — makes it the product of choice for partition walls and wall/ceiling cladding where sound control and fire resistance are critical. It is used as a cladding in all interior dry construction systems with increased requirements.

What does ‘DF’ mean:

According to standard EN 520, the designation ‘DF’ describes two properties: D = controlled, higher density (greater mass per m² → better sound insulation based on the law of mass) and F = core with improved stability at high temperatures (reinforced with glass fibres). This is why a single panel simultaneously meets both acoustic and fire-resistance requirements.

Overview

Key Features

- High density for sound insulation — surface mass ~10.8 kg/m², significantly higher than standard plasterboard, which enhances the sound insulation of partition walls.

- Non-combustible material — reaction to fire class A2-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1 (confirm via the DoP).

- Structural integrity in fire — retains its integrity when exposed to fire, which is essential for certified fire-rated systems.

- Easy to work with — can be cut and installed using standard dry construction techniques.

- Dimensional stability — minimal expansion and contraction in response to changes in temperature and humidity.

- Wet bending capability — for curved architectural elements.

- Low energy and carbon footprint — Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) available.
