SINMAST RM 42 | Oily polyurethane protective paint

SINMAST RM 42 is a hard yet flexible two-component paint, based on acrylic–aliphatic polyurethane, available in a gloss or matt finish. The ‘aliphatic’ nature is the key characteristic: it does not yellow or chalk in the sun. It has withstood 1,000 hours of artificial UVB ageing and 450 hours of salt spray testing without blistering or oxidation. It withstands freeze-thaw cycles, temperatures up to 150 °C, oils, petrol, diesel and dilute acids and bases. It can be applied to concrete, metals and, with a suitable primer, to wood and plastics.

In resin-based flooring systems, RM 42 is the top coat. Epoxy coatings (RM 22, RM 32, SINROC 22) and the polyurethane SINROC 42 SL are prone to colour fading in sunlight. A top coat of RM 42 protects them on car park ramps, outdoor storage areas, shop windows with natural light and seaside locations. It is also used on its own as a coating for outdoor floors and metal structures in coastal environments. Foot traffic is permitted after 24 hours and vehicle traffic after 72 hours.
