Root barriers

Description

Dual function in a single layer: waterproofing and decoupling, with flexibility down to -40°C and a tensile strength of 650 N/50 mm along the length. A flexible sheet 1.25 mm thick and weighing 525 g/m², manufactured in accordance with EN 13859-2.

Watertightness is confirmed in accordance with EN 1928/B; impact resistance reaches 200 mm and static load resistance 20 kg. Roll dimensions are 1.50 × 30 m, with dimensional stability of less than 0.4 per cent.

The ARGYNET View

Decoupling is not a luxury — it is the reason why the tiles do not crack. The substrate and the paving move differently due to temperature, humidity and contraction. Without an intermediate layer, any crack in one is transferred to the other.

On an inverted green roof, the same membrane is laid beneath the drainage layer and acts as both a waterproofing and root-resistant barrier.

The crucial point in installation: on horizontal surfaces, bonding is carried out only between the membranes using MS sealant — not to the substrate. Adhesion to the substrate is only carried out at the vertical edges. If it is bonded everywhere, the decoupling effect itself is lost.
