Knauf Sound-Insulating Track Tape | Foam Self-Adhesive

Dry construction fixings, screws and accessories

Description

The self-adhesive foam tape installed behind the perimeter guides (UW/UD) prior to their fixing. It decouples the framework from the load-bearing structure and seals the perimeter joint — crucial for sound insulation.

In plasterboard walls and ceilings, the perimeter joint acts as a ‘bridge’ for sound transmission. The sound-insulating track tape is adhered to the back of the UW/UD and (a) decouples the stud frame from the floor/ceiling/walls, reducing lateral sound transmission (flanking), (b) seals the joint, (c) absorbs minor surface irregularities.

Correct width selection:

Match the tape width to the profile width: 50 mm → UW 50 · 70 mm → UW 75 · 95 mm → UW 100 (30 mm for thin profiles/rails).

Always use in sound-insulated systems: without it, sound ‘passes through’ the perimeter joint even if the board is sound-insulating.

It is combined with anti-vibration mounts and a sound-insulating panel (Silentboard) for comprehensive sound insulation.
